Suzhou Silk Factory and Museum. "The No.1 Silk Factory was founded in 1926 as a state-owned factory. Visitors will experience the amazing process that the silkworm creates its cocoon out of a single silk thread that is continuous for approximately 3,600 feet. Then you will see how the Chinese people produce silk with the old style machine, and the process of producing handmade silk quilt. (http://www.chinafacttours.com/suzhou/attractions/suzhou-no-1-silk-factory.html). This is a very interesting place. The museum shows old ways of harvesting, dying, and spinning and weaving silk, and then you get to pass through a operating production area, where manual and automatic methods of spinning and weaving are demonstrated. Finally, you can visit the store and buy stuff! http://www.khulsey.com/travel/china_suzhou_silk-factory.html
